One cup flour, the same in sugar
A half cup cocoa, the same in butter
some other things, and
an egg.
Mix, roll, chill, slice, bake
at three hundred and fifty degrees
for ten minutes.
Spread homemade vanilla icing on one cookie, then
sandwich another on top.
Tilt head carefully to the side.
Necessary move to remove extra smudge of icing from non-trademarked Oreos from scratch.
Poke tongue out just a smidge for extra focus.
Notice.
Recall elementary school detention from teacher who did not understand the role of tilted head and stuck out tongue when concentrating on colouring - likely between the lines.
Smile.
Cookie delight in dim lit quiet kitchen as kids dream and husband does too.
"Make it easy mama."
Six year old mimicry and wisdom.
